Michelman Fiber Sizing Line Added
to IACMI Collaboration Facility
Speeding the Path from R&D to Commercialization in Composites Industry
IACMI in partnership with Michelman, a global manufacturer of advanced materials, is pleased to announce the addition of a state-of-the-art fiber sizing line to the IACMI Collaboration Facility in Knoxville. The 70-foot, modular system is designed to apply a variety of “fiber sizings,” a very thin coating that serves multiple benefits in manufacturing. This process is an essential step in making composites lighter, stronger, and more versatile.

Join IACMI at SAMPE 2024
IACMI leaders are looking forward to connecting with IACMI members and industry experts in composites and advanced materials at SAMPE 2024. This year’s event features a stellar lineup of conference types, ranging from tutorials and technical paper presentations to emerging technology panels and a DOE workshop.
On May 22, the U.S. Department of Energy and SAMPE North America are co-sponsoring, an “Advanced Materials for Hydrogen Infrastructure Technologies Workshop.”

DOE Announces Opportunity for Industry to Connect to High Performance Computing Resources at National Laboratories
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a new solicitation to connect industry partners with the high performance computing resources and expertise at DOE’s national laboratories to improve material performance, advance manufacturing processes, and reduce industrial emissions. Concept papers are due May 13, 2024.

Request for Information on Clean Energy Supply Chain
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC) released a Request for Information (RFI) on clean energy supply chain data and analysis methods. This RFI is an opportunity for industry and other stakeholders to highlight specific supply chain gaps, vulnerabilities, and/or challenges impacting various components of clean energy technologies. Reponses must be submitted by June 10, 2024.

CHIPS for America Announces $285 million Funding Opportunity for a Digital Twin and Semiconductor CHIPS Manufacturing USA Institute
The Biden-Harris Administration issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) seeking proposals from eligible applicants for activities to establish and operate a CHIPS Manufacturing USA institute focused on digital twins for the semiconductor industry.
On May 16, 2024, the CHIPS Manufacturing USA Program will host a one-day hybrid meeting for potential applicants for this funding opportunity. For more information and to register for this event, please visit chips.gov.
