IACMI Announces Key Partnerships with Mississippi State University and Penn State Behrend
The new partnerships will advance America’s Cutting Edge, a joint Department of Defense and Department of Energy workforce initiative launched in 2020 to reestablish American leadership in the machining industry through transformative thinking, technology innovation, and workforce development. Expanding the number of training centers is a key part of ACENet, a national network of 40 machine tool workforce development sites across 14 states.

IACMI, UT Celebrate Dedication of Innovation South
In October, IACMI celebrated the dedication of Innovation South, an 85,000-sq-ft multi-use building at UT Research Park, which will now serve as our headquarters. This new facility fulfills a decade-long vision for IACMI’s CTO, Dr. Uday Vaidya, and will house the Fibers and Composites Manufacturing Facility, a 44,000-sq-ft cutting-edge composites laboratory lead by Uday. Innovation South will be a central hub for advanced composites and manufacturing, offering members and industry leaders access to top-tier research and collaboration spaces. DOE Announces $46M for Hydrogen RD&D
DOE has announced a funding opportunity of up to $46 million to boost research, development, and demonstration of cost-effective clean hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Selected projects will advance the performance of hydrogen production, infrastructure, and fuel cells, while showcasing these technologies in high-impact applications. This initiative aims to accelerate affordable clean energy solutions, supporting sustainable innovation in hydrogen and fuel cell advancements.

DOE Announces Millions to Scale Clean Energy Technologies
DOE’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) has announced up to $50 million in open-ended funding for the commercial scale-up of disruptive energy technologies. The SCALEUP Ready program will support advancing technologies from ARPA-E’s portfolio toward market adoption. This year-round commercialization opportunity to secure America’s energy future.
